Silence is Golden

On yesterday’s post about prayer, and the previous day’s on the problem of evil, an SG denizen made a rather pertinent comment referencing Biblical support for silence being important when attempting to commune with God.

The practical example of course being Catholic monasteries throughout history were talking was not only discouraged, but often forbidden under many conditions.

The reference was this:

Quietness is crucial for communing with Him.

Is 30:15 “For thus saith the Lord God the Holy One of Israel: If you return and be quiet, you shall be saved: in silence and in hope shall your strength be. And you would not”
