I started martial arts at age 4 and except for the last few years and a few breaks in between I essentially always trained. That’s probably close to 40 years of training, competitions, occasional streefights and so on. And of those 40 years I spent probably around 10 or so teaching.
It could have been a lot more, but I always preferred training myself to teaching others, although, it is absolutely true that in teaching you also learn more yourself, and I think the balance has been a good ratio for optimum skill absorption.
The beautiful thing of teaching martial arts is that the usual excuses, arguments, ego defences and so on are almost entirely irrelevant, and almost absolutely so in the Russian system, which is ultimately based solely on meritocracy.
You can argue your “point” as much as you like, but if you keep getting hit in the head doing it your way, you will very quickly be disabused of your fantastic bullshit ideas.
Outside of the dojo, such instant reality checks are usually absent and as a result, even when men ask for help or advice, they usually only take a minot part of what you tell them to heart, and often not even that.
I can count on one hand the number of men who after asking for advice actually took it and applied it. And to their credit, their issues, some of which had been life-long, resolved within months for the most part.
The exception to this general rule is when people pay for the advice. It sounds “usurious” and “grifty” to say it, but sadly, it is a fact. One I have observed for literally decades now, with, as I said, at most a handful of exceptions.
It is partly why I allowed myself to be convinced to set up the new hypnosis site, which a friend did at his own time and expense, which I appreciate a lot. His contention is that I have a skill that is absolutely underused and is beneficial for many more people than most would guess. And given the concepts I am discussing here, I would fit into the category of “not taking the advice” myself if I did not take on board an opinion based on non-partisan observation. The guy asked for nothing and did the site off his own back, and I have seen him make very reasonable and logical choices and arguments over a few years, so it would be foolish to ignore his view.
Men’s egos are usually the biggest obstacle to their progress in life. And yes, there are times to force your will on the world, but most of the times, as in 99% of the time, what is required is that you bend your ego to reality.
Effective and efficient, I recommend Giuseppe’s hypnosis from personal experience.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
