Assume for a minute that tomorrow you get uncontrovertible proof that convinces you absolutely that:
- Aliens are real and are NOT demons (they may be assholes though)
- They genetically engineered us millennia ago
How would that affect you?
I am genuinely curious and the replies would be too unique for a mere poll, so I’d appreciate it if you actually left a comment. As detailed as you like. I will read them all, thanks.

I would be depressed. Even if the aliens are smarter than us and have good intentions, a change that makes present-day people different from Adam and Eve is probably a bad change.
There are blessings in disguise, there are curses in disguise too. If I gained superhuman smell like a dog has I expect it would eat up so much of my attention I would have trouble thinking about things other than scents.
I might be curious about the nature of the change though, and reread the Iliad and take a note every time I see something that would seem out of place in a book published in the last 1000 years. Aside from the doings of the Greek gods.
The scenario is reminiscent of “Xenocide” and “Children of the Mind” by Orson Scott Card, from the point of view not of the humans but of the piggies. But anyone who reads those two books should read “Ender’s Game” and “Speaker for the Dead” first.
